The omnipotence of a picture

August 17, 2008 – 11:06 pm

I thought this picture illustrated the many facets of a picture’s power without a caption. Even if this is a doctored photo, it inserts a subtle yet powerful area of potential spin that can be exploited. Although isolated, and unable to be verified it opens the debate on perception creation and alignment. What other juxtapositions of clashing brands could be used to ’shape’ perceptions?

4 Hour Workweek

June 30, 2008 – 5:18 am

I gotta tip my hat to Tim. He is the Obi-wan of utilizing the near ubiquity of the internet’s social and economic reach. I recently met Tim and I gotta tell you behind the text is a ultra-intelligent tech maven who doesn’t just spin theories, but actually gets things done. If you don’t believe me just read his book.

Better yet.. check his blog out here.

What’s your job?

June 27, 2008 – 5:40 pm

So.. by day you are miserable behind a cubicle or listening to the ever present “blip” noise as you scan yet another pack of skittles through your checkout register… By night you are in command of tens or maybe hundreds of online users in the fight of your (virtual) life.. These guys are serious. Favorite quote: “statistical probability of survival 32.33 repeating of course”. That is until Leroy hits the scene..
Good thing this is only a game… right?

Are you a Maverick?

May 11, 2008 – 3:57 pm

Taylor gets it right. Most people love to brainstorm and generate some great ideas. However, very few leave the ‘chatter sphere’ and actually make ideas into reality. This book illustrates those few, very few folks who dare to take the next step and leap into the unexpected journey of failure or success. Are you a maverick?

Linking into the data matrix

May 11, 2008 – 3:45 pm

So… red pill or blue pill or how about both? The increasing size of the digital matrix has people reaching data intoxication,. There’s been much ado on social networking sites, tools, worlds ect.. great, now show me a tool that visually depicts the purported linkages and can weigh the social connectivity between the entities in order of ontological relationships. Ok well a bit of a tall order. The folks at muckety.com seem to offer a neat utility that points in the general direction of which I am talking about.

Go play!!

March 18, 2008 – 10:02 pm

An email address is becoming more of an online identity, or perhaps a personality in itself. Some cool advancements in this area from the innovators at RapLeaf.

Social Networking 2.5?

March 18, 2008 – 10:01 pm

So here’s an idea based on Gladwell’s “Tipping Point” .

Let’s take his notion of connectors and mavens + Rapleaf’s capability and mashup these two items.

Could we then associate the legitimacy of an online persona then label this person as a connector, maven, salesman? Heck we might as well combine it with This —>

So.. a visual “map of online reputation” with details of the person.. cool.

The Tipping Point

March 18, 2008 – 9:41 pm

An intellectual dissection of the factors that transform seemingly benign events into things legends are made of. In this book Gladwell masterfully presented an interesting perspective on the mechanisms and rationale that cause these tectonic movements. From historical moments that defined our era to the popularity of Sesame Street, your optic on the word is about to change.
